RESIDENCIES

Metropolitan Museum of Art - Artist Residency, New York, NY  through The Ruth & Harold D. Center for Education and Select Galleries and the New York Academy of Art.  Formerly the Copyist program, this residency was accessed through NYAA.

Consisted of research on selected European and American masters, culminating with joining the copyist program where Aldanondo produced two pieces painted at Gallery 803 in the European wing, inspired by Camille Corot’s “Sybille” (1870).

SVA (School of Visual Arts NYC), Artist Residency Program, Chelsea, New York

ICELAND Artist Residency - partially sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of Iceland.  The residency focused on Icelandic culture through exploration of time, empathy, compassion and the Icelandic welfare system.  Working alongside a cohort of international artists, conducting a workshop at the local prison, Litla-Hraun, and the local school to conduct a painting workshop concluding in an art festival that sought to highlight the experience of being human in the same community but under two very different contexts.  The result helped break down prejudice and helped each cohort of the community understand each other while looking past their differences.  Work created by the inmates and the school community was displayed at the local community center.  Aldanondo led the painting workshop at the Little-Hraun prison and at the local school.
